Are First Impressions Valid Judgement?

How often when networking or meeting someone for the first time have you made an immediate judgement that has had the potential to be an opportunity lost?

 A recent experience made me think about this. We were contemplating a considerable spend on a home improvement but it was put on hold by COVID. Now that we are once again able to visit showrooms we began to explore our options. One showroom person was very helpful and clearly explained their procedure and how they could help us. Another was a complete contrast. The salesperson, after only a very brief conversation, had decided we were not going to be a valued customer, his attitude towards us making that very clear. Much to his loss!
