Business Coach Case Study

When I was introduced to them, Lynn and Alan Leitch of Spex Appeal had just made their first major investment to support their growing customer base. It was clear that there was exceptional potential with their business model and applying our business analysis tools they were able to identify the key activities that would enable them exploit that potential and achieve much more.

Their journey has not been without challenges. With our support, providing a safe sounding board with whom to share and discuss solutions they have made key, pivotal decisions enabling them to continue to grow and develop their business. Importantly they now regularly set aside time from their demanding day to day activities to think strategically about future business development.

An excellent example of the value and benefit of engaging the support of an experienced business coach.

Business Growth Case Study

Michael Barron’s business, Zest Creative, was stagnating and when offered the opportunity to take over Scotia Marketing an established but ailing business, he considered it to be a valuable opportunity to engage with a broader client base.

Michael appreciated he required support to recover and grow Scotia Marketing, but more importantly to develop his business management skills.

Initially, Michael considered marketing to gain new customers to be the priority. It was only when we began working together did Michael truly recognise much more was required.

He had no structure or routine, his day to day work schedule was disorganised and inefficient, no system in place for job tracking, no marketing plan and crucially was not aware of who his best customers were.

Positive momentum was promptly achieved by progressing the results of a SWOT analysis and setting out short, medium and longer term SMART objectives. Time and task management tools were introduced to manage and prioritise day to day activities.

In summary, the benefits accrued were invaluable helping create focus and an understanding of the key success factors required to build a robust, profitable business.

Michael now has in place a structure with management processes, in short a well organised business with a growing client base and sustainable, growing turnover.

Management Structure Case Study

Capitalising on several years’ relevant experience our client, Linsey McLean of Interior Space Design Ltd, sought to expand her design and build business portfolio.

Linsey soon realised managing multiple businesses was a much greater challenge than anticipated and sought my help. Help with creating an effective management structure, help with outsourcing time consuming tasks that were detracting from driving the business forward and help with creating a focussed marketing strategy.

Concentrating on value added objectives with accountability to ensure timely execution a significant and prompt turnaround was achieved.

Working with basics and beyond, Linsey’s business flourished, restoring confidence and most importantly growing profitable revenue.

Marketing Strategy Case Study

Irrespective of the size of your business there will no doubt come a time when you struggle to identify where to go next.

A supplier and fitter of flooring in the commercial, hospitality, education and health sectors had reached that point. Business had gone well for a number of years but turnover had plateaued and there was lack of ideas of how to develop further.

By providing a business mentor service we opened up new routes to market creating a significant turning point. The intangible benefits are what helped most, increased confidence to explore new avenues and engaging significantly more with social media. One real achievement is the clarity with how to take the business forward with the resulting number of new orders.

Business Management Case Study

The MD of an SME in the services sector identified opportunities to develop and grow his business. However, he was hindered from pursuing these due to time consumed supporting the day to day activities of his management team. He recognised that he had a capable team reporting to him but their mode of operation was at times inefficient and on occasion not clearly customer focussed, meaning he frequently had to intervene.

He engaged us to work with the team, including himself, to help them realise the consequences of their behaviours and mode of operation. We enabled them to better understand how to be more synergetic and efficient. They now have clearly defined roles, responsibilities and are implementing formal procedures. Improved customer service has created positive business growth and the MD now has the confidence to step back and pursue his ambitious business plans.

Recruitment Case Study

A successful, professional services provider was overloaded to the point he had to decline new clients. Employing another staff member was essential to enable ambitious business targets to be met. Having never employed someone before there was hesitancy about the whole recruitment procedure.

Rather than continue to lose out on the opportunity to grow the business he turned to us for guidance. With our support the entire recruitment process from job description to candidate selection was smoothly and successfully concluded. Then to ensure successful integration into the business we put together a performance review and coaching programme for the new employee.

The new incumbent is successfully filling the role, the business owner has already achieved significant benefit and gained in confidence from the entire process. Critically, it has provided the business owner the essential time to focus on growing the business, achieving a 50% increase in turnover in just over 12 months.
