Have you often wondered why some social media posts hit the big time whilst others are left trailing in their wake?

Based on quality research many experts have put forward reasoned arguments and theories.

To help you I have created a brief summary. I cannot offer any guarantees but following these guidelines might just be the tipping point for your posts or articles.

Lifestyle posts and being personal is more engaging than technical content.

Help others, share expertise and knowledge.

Write for humans – then for SEO!

Post regularly and consistently, there are a number of tools available to help with this.

Focus on your ideal customers, avoid being too generic.

Add value, focus on pain points or challenges.

Use engaging and relevant images (with Alt Tags) or infographics.

Video is exceptionally popular.

Check out your competitors and do it better than them!

Don’t get too hung up on the numbers, customers are more important than Followers.

When are your target audience on line? That is the time to post!

Your title is all important, try the following:-

Asking a question eg “Are you struggling with….?”

Setting a challenge eg “Want to double your turnover in 6 months?”

Quoting statistics from a trustworthy source, “According to ….. only 5% of social media posts reach their target audience”

Offer advice eg “How to …. in 5 simple steps (#3 is amazing!)”

Long term content works best but break it up with chapter headings.

Have a Conclusion, make it engaging, it will encourage readers to stick with the article.

Don’t hesitate to recycle and update old content, it doesn’t have to be something new every time.

Be patient, social media platforms will reward those who post frequently and create engagement.

Remember, not every post or article is an immediate hit. Sometimes “slow burners” will have a bigger impact.

Finally, include a Call to Action (CTA)

For example “sign up for our regular newsletter”, “download our free guide”, “to learn more, sign up here..”, “DM me at……..”, and don’t forget to request a like/share/repost response.
