Law of Attraction

Mental health issues have become big news items. We live in an era where the combined impact of our social, educational and work environments create levels of stress with which many struggle to cope.

Practitioners of the many options to tackle mental health issues promote their preferred solutions. All aimed towards achieving a stable, stress free work/life balance. I do not have any preference or bias towards any specific ideology, I leave that to you to choose, should you wish.

During a recent business meeting I encountered a group discussing the intriguing Law of Attraction, something of which I was not aware. Here is some background information.

From Wikipedia

“The Law of Attraction is the belief that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, people can bring positive or negative experiences into their life. It is based on the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from pure energy and that through the process of like energy attracting like energy a person can improve their own health, wealth, and personal relationships.

Advocates of this mind-power paradigm generally combine cognitive reframing techniques with affirmations and creative visualisation, replacing self-destructive “negative” thoughts with more empowered “positive” thoughts. A key component of the philosophy is creative visualisation that the desired changes have already occurred. This combination of positive thought and positive emotion is believed to allow one to attract positive experiences and opportunities.”

From www.LawofAttraction.com

“It is believed that regardless of age, nationality or religious belief, we are all susceptible to the laws which govern the Universe. It is the Law of Attraction which uses the power of the mind to translate whatever is in our thoughts and materialise them into reality. In basic terms, all thoughts turn into something eventually. If you focus on negative doom and gloom you will remain under that cloud. If you focus on positive thoughts and have goals, you will find a way to achieve them.

The Law of Attraction dictates that whatever can be imagined and held in the mind’s eye is achievable if you plan and take action to get to where you want to be. Create pictures of your intended life and then make choices and take those actions that will realise what is envisaged.

Life is a blank canvas of possibility. You are in control of what the finished picture could look like. The Law of Attraction really is that simple.”
