Why is it you can clearly remember moments from 10 years ago, but not what you had for lunch last Wednesday?

FACT! It’s all about emotional engagement. If you have an emotional response, then your ability to recall will be significantly increased.

If you want your business to be memorable then share a story that taps into emotions, something that will interest and engage your target market. It could be funny, entertaining, sad, angry or whatever you consider to be appropriate.

Add further value by promoting the benefits accrued and if possible, add statistics.

Including benefits, data and a case study will engage that segment of your target audience that will be more inclined to rational rather than an emotional connection.

Consider content that you saw recently, how well can you recall it?

Almost in its entirety, why?

Hardly any of it, why not?

Was the content easy to comprehend?

Did it make you want to know more?

Were the images engaging?

Was it of no interest at all?

Put yourself in the space of your target audience and critique your content from their perspective. Does it feel right, if so, go for it – well done!
