The Unpredictable Business Environment – How Well Do You Respond?
Most of us have to react and operate within the current unpredictable business environment. Our individual, preferred operating style influences how we respond to change. There are four, typical characteristics that explain how we deal with change. It is not about how well or poorly we respond to change but understanding our individual style enables us to better adapt and accept it.
Intuitive, this group responds to ideas and generalities. They are creative and prefer options rather than a defined plan or structure. Their major focus is on the big picture.
Thinkers desire logic and clarity in decision making and planning. They want to know the “Why?”, “The objectives”, “What systemic changes will there be?” Their major focus is on the facts.
Sensors demand a clear explanation for change. They relate to specifics that make plans real and thrive on guidelines, expectations, roles, and responsibilities. Their major focus is on the reason for change.
Feelers tap into emotions and want to be included in the planning and implementation process. They expect clarity with how the impact of change on individuals’ needs will be addressed. Their major focus is on ensuring that actions and thoughts are made personal.
