Business Networking Part 4

I reiterate, this is not an expert guide to business networking, it is simply my personal observations.

If you are serious about business networking and are unsure about how to go about it then I suggest you undertake some research and perhaps seek expert advice.

In summary;
Sample the networking options available to you and decide on those most appropriate for your business.
Networking is not a silver bullet for instant business success. Be patient, positive relationships take time to develop.

When networking avoid a scatter gun approach and focus on a few key dialogues. That first introduction is only a starting point, if there is initial interest arrange a follow up meeting promptly, preferably before leaving the event or at the latest the next day. We are all very busy and will swiftly move on to the next opportunity.

Be clear about your USP, product or service and have a well-defined profile of your “ideal client”. Practice, practice, practice your introduction. Record it, video it, whatever, but being clear, credible and enthusiastic with your pitch is essential. Seek feedback from a trusted source, it will help you improve the content and delivery.

Referrals are priceless and can be a fertile path to successful business growth. Don’t be embarrassed to ask for a referral and give appropriate recognition for a successful introduction.

Hone your listening skills.
