Think Big!
In a typical year there are around 20,000 new business start-ups in Scotland.
Regrettably each year there are almost the same number of business failures.
Starting a business is an exciting but challenging adventure. These new entrepreneurs must understand that they will need a broad range of skills well beyond those of producing the product or delivering a service. For example managing finances, creating and maintaining marketing activities, dealing with customers, keeping their social media presence active and up to date, networking, understanding and managing the risks.
Don’t forget the taxman! Personal tax, corporation tax, VAT (if relevant) all need to be accounted for and (sadly) paid.
Mindset is a key factor, sustaining motivation when things are not going so well, acknowledging and not being reluctant to ask for help.
Look around at those who have been truly successful and learn from them, understand how they got there.
Those who make it big are not afraid to think big!
